Importance of Grounding
This week’s session was on grounding and the feet. Grounding is important to yoga practice, it is a way to centre yourself and release stress and tension. Grounding means to make an energetic connection between your body and the earth. Being grounded is the feeling of being connected to your inner self whilst anchored to the earth. Grounding enables you to “let go” of tension that has accumulated within the body. Everyday tension can create undue physical, emotional and mental stress and fatigue. Think of your body as a beautiful glass vase filled with pranic life force. Daily stresses contaminate your pranic life force, making the water dirty and cloudy. Grounding helps you empty the vase of contaminated water and tension and replenish your life force.
You may wish to take a look at this website which has an interesting article on grounding and the feet. It will help you assess your standing posture.
There will only be one class next week at 7.30 pm on Thursday, 29th July at The Dance Studio, Wilmslow High School, Holly Road, Wilmslow. The session will be focusing on core stability.
