Incorporating Ahimsa (Non-violence) In Your Yoga Practice

September 10, 2010

The theme for this week’s classes is Ahimsa, non-violence.  This means treating your body with compassion during your yoga practice, using props and supports when needed.   During the lesson you will be encouraged to stay within your comfort zone, of what feels good and safe,  listening to your body.   Stress and rushing are also considered to be acts of Ahimsa and this week’s lesson will challenge this by creating peace and harmony within the body.  It is said that if you are kind to yourself it is unlikely that you will be unkind to others.
