Chakras – Psychological Attributes

January 28, 2011

During the lesson this week we will be working with the posture Parsvottanasana (Bowing Warrior) as well as the Chakras.  The Chakras are said to have not only physical attributes but also core psychological attributes or values.  Various ancient texts and modern day books describe these attributes.  I have detailed some of them below:

Mooladhara Chakra – Survival and Stability.

Svadhisthana Chakra – Emotions, Sexuality and Creativity.

Manipura Chakra – Willpower, Self-esteem and Energy.

Anahata Chakra – Relationships and Unconditional Love.

Vishudda Chakra – Communication and Self-expression.

Ajna Chakra – Imagination and Intuition.

Sahasrara Chakra – Awareness and Spirituality.

Developing an awareness and understanding of the chakras can facilitate the flow of pranic energy which will joyfully effect everything we do. During the lessons this week we will be using Yoga asana to balance the Chakras and help you live a more balanced life uniting body, mind and spirit.
