Spring Detox

During this week’s lesson we will be focusing  on detoxification during the asana practice.   Detoxification means the removal of toxins from the body.  Just like flowers we absorb toxins – preservatives, pesticides, stimulants, etc. through food, water and air.  Our own body produces toxins and metabolic waste products as a natural result of digestion, and respiration.  Luckily our digestive, endocrine and circulatory systems are designed to eliminate these toxins through mouth, eyes, skin, colon, urinary system and even your breath.  However, too many toxins, little exercise and stress can slow the body’s natural detoxification system down to a sluggish pace.  The result is a build up of toxins that can leave you fatigued.
