Mindfulness

July 4, 2011

During classes this week we will be focusing on experiencing mindfulness by observing what happens while you do the asanasBody, Mind and Spirit are terms used for the different aspects of the human system. Whatever touches one aspect affects them all.

What happens at the body level influences the mind.
What happens with the mind helps mold the body.

Whilst on the mat you will be working with mindfulness of the body, of the feelings, and of the mind. You will be encouraged to ask questions: Are you bringing awareness to your breath? Where is sensation arising? Are you starting to create a mental formation by wondering when this pose will end?  Mindfulness can enliven your yoga practice if you often operate on autopilot. It’s a way to open more deeply to your yoga practice and extend that feeling into the rest of your life .
